Red Rabbit is a Black-owned School Food Management Company that has worked with hundreds of schools, districts, and food banks to uplift communities of color throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Since 2005, our professionally trained chefs have created menus, sourced farm-fresh ingredients, and cooked delicious, thoughtful, and familiar food. Our food matters not only because it’s integral to good health, but also because what we eat is an essential part of our cultural identity and sense of self.
We are looking for a highly detail-oriented, motivated, and efficient Operations Assistant to join our in-school team. Reporting to the Head Chef, the Operations Assistant is responsible for estimating daily meal requirements, accurately recording consumption data, and ensuring compliance with dietary regulations—particularly for allergies—in collaboration with the Compliance Team. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining smooth service line operations, coordinating effectively with school staff and cafeteria workers to present meals attractively and manage meal distribution efficiently. Additionally, the Operations Assistant ensures food safety by following proper handling procedures, monitoring temperatures, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness to create a safe working and dining environment for students.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a cutting-edge culinary operation and to learn about logistics and data management in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
The ideal candidate has a background in data management and operations, excels at building relationships, possesses impeccable communication skills, and is passionate about food justice in communities of color.
