Essential Functions

  • Assist in preparation of nearly 25,000 meals daily according to DOH standards

  • Dice, chop, mix, measure, steam, grill and cook a variety of ingredients every day

  • Scale recipes for large volume preparations while being conscious of waste

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in high volume or commissary prep

  • Excellent knife skills - speed and efficiency is a must

  • Ability to bring cooking tools required

  • Able to carry 50 lbs for short periods of time

  • Must share our passion for improving nutrition in schools
  • Bilingual a plus
  • NYC Food Handler Certificate is a plus


  • Must be reliable, function well within a team and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment.

  • Must have strong communication and problem solving skills, be comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization

  • Must have strong attention to detail and follow through

  • This candidate must share our passion for nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
